What can YOU do? We need:
Sponsors for orphans
To feed and clothe a child for one month costs approximatelyR150
(approximately €17 or £11).
Donations for food parcels
the
contents of one food parcel is designed to feed one person for one month and
costs approximately R90. The reality is that one parcel often feeds up to
10 orphans.
Donations for vegetable gardens
Fencing is needed for several gardens. Costs vary, and any donations of
money or fencing
materials would be welcomed.
Garden implements, such as rakes, spades, hoes, watering cans, etc. are needed
in all the gardens.
Costs are difficult to estimate, but any donations
will be used for these.
Seeds are also needed, again, costs are difficult to estimate.
Training
Many training courses for health workers are available, e.g. counseling HIV
positive persons, caring
for orphans, home-based care for the sick and
elderly, and many others. Our workers are very eager
for training, but
the courses are expensive and money is scarce. The cost of training
courses varies from R400
– R800 (approximately €43 - 86 or £30 - 60). One reason why training is
important is that,
with a certificate, the worker is eligible to receive a
stipend from the Municipality.
